Job Duties

The Alaska Department of Law, Natural Resources Section is seeking two experienced litigators to support programs within the Department of Natural Resources, Department of Fish and Game, Boards of Fisheries and Game, and the Mental Health Trust Land Office. Assignments will align with each attorney’s experience and interests. Positions involve substantial state and federal litigation as well as agency advising, with occasional travel. The section advises on administration of Alaska’s 100 million acres of state land—including public domain lands, forests, parks, refuges, and public trust doctrine lands—major infrastructure projects, fish and game management, and land matters involving agencies such as the Trust Land Office, Alaska Railroad Corporation, University of Alaska, and private landowners. Attorneys work closely with program managers across administrative, state, and federal litigation; complex cases; appeals; major development projects; legislative and regulatory drafting; and daily operational guidance.

Salary and Benefits

Salary depends on experience and ranges from $92,137.50–$147,322.50 annually.
